The QuiltTownUSA Gallery offers you a look at quilts from some of the premiere quilters in the USA.

Take a peak at the exciting projects and decorating ideas featured in this book with a patriotic theme. The pillows work up quickly so you can get the look you're after without a large investment of time. The projects have a coordinated look but are made with many different techniques, so you'll always have fun and never be bored no matter how many times you decide to make! It's easy to bring a bit of "Americana" to one or two rooms in your home or to fill your entire house with the American spirit with this book as your guide.

Independence & Justice American Flag

Mickey Depre of Oak Lawn, Illinois, used red and white Sawtooth Stars made by guild members for "Independence & Justice." The star blocks almost twinkle in the lively setting Mickey used to pull them all together. You'll add a playful, patriotic touch to any room in your home when you display this energetic-looking design.

Here's a great way to celebrate your American heritage. Marcella C. Poludniak of Springfield, Illinois, shares this antique "American Flag" quilt. It was made by her great-grandmother from Illiopolis, Illinois, in the late 1800s. The quilter's unique, folk-art representation of the flag causes us to admire her individualism and artistic nature.

Mattie's Memory Adam's Freedom
"Mattie's Memory" was lovingly made by Diane Albeck-Grick, the art director who designed this book. The vintage fabrics belonged to her great-grandma, Mattie Miller Squire, so Diane made the quilt to honor her. Wouldn't Mattie be proud that her great-granddaughter has followed in her footsteps? It's easier than you think to make your own version of the classic quilt with the easy step-by-step direction provided in this book. When Adam celebrated his 18th Birthday, as well as his independence by going off to college, Patti Wiggins Butcher of Lawrence, Kansas, stitched "Adam's Freedom." Adam is surely reminded of home every night when he sleeps under this classic red and white quilt, lovingly made by his mother. Use simple piecing and show off your appliqué skills by making your own version of "Adam's Freedom" in any combination of red, white, and blue fabrics you prefer.

Stars and Bars

Courthouse Flag Pillow

Grab a generous sized pillow to lean on while watching TV or to prop behind your back while reading. "Stars and Bars" (26 1/2" square) with its bold design will certainly make any room cozier and more inviting to relax in.

Use your red, white, and blue print scraps to make a pillow that just shouts "Old Glory." Foundation piecing makes this "Courthouse Flag Pillow" easy to stitch. If you prefer more traditional color arrangement for your pillow, switch the placement of the red and blue fabrics as you piece the blocks.

Star Pillows

American Alley Cat Pillows

These little star pillows are so easy to make you may want to stitch an entire constellation of them. While country and patriotic prints make them ideal for mid-summer display, you can also stitch them in colorful, funky fabrics for a fun accent in a child's room. Looking for a whimsical project? These frisky felines are sure to find a special spot in your home. Make your Alley Cats with or without a flirty wink!

Stars in my Eyes

Lattice Pillow Top

"Stars in my Eyes" was made by Lisa Boyer of Kapaa, Hawaii. Lisa made this quilt in a class taught by Ruth Mosher. The block layout is Ruth's design but the border design is Lisa's. Lisa credits Ruth with turning her into the enthusiastic quilter she is today and says that Ruth is a very special friend as well as a wonderful teacher. You'll use quick-piecing methods to make your own version of this country-style quilt. Here's a pillow you can change with the seasons! Make one lattice top pillowcase. Then make several inner pillows using different colors and motifs for each one. Stars were used for the patriotic pillows displayed here. You can make lots of inner pillows and insert them in the lattice pillowcase to celebrate the various seasons. The sky's the limit with this unique pillow design!

Star Spangled Pillow

Ohio Star blocks flatter the embroidered flag in the "Star Spangled Pillow" (14" square). A quick-piecing technique makes the blocks quick to stitch. Make your pillow with navy fabrics and embroider it in blue, as shown, or use red fabrics and thread if you prefer to make a "Redwork" design for your home.
