Santa is also
the Man in the Moon as he gazes at the star-filled night in Phyllis Renick's "Santa
Moon" (10 1/2" diameter). Choose a perfect fabric - navy blue with
twinkling stars - to set the scene in your rendition of this fun quilt. |
"Sweet and
simple" best describe this lovely little "Christmas Stable"
(15 3/4" x 18") designed by Els Feteris-Stam of Zwartewaal, the Netherlands. Use
earth tones to set the mood for these folk-art-style figures when you make your version of
this holiday quilt. |

| Even Santa's round stomach is
rendered in straight lines in Kathleen Bishop's "Christmas Quartet" (15"
square). The Washington, D.C. quilter designed this quilt with foundation-pieced blocks
and sashing that she hand-painted to look like candy canes. |
Ho, ho, ho! What could be merrier
than a bevy of Santas? Catherine LaRosa of Neptune Beach, Florida, designed "Santa
Quilt I" (14" x 16") to accompany her collection of Santa
figurines and dolls. You'll enjoy stitching this "collection" of
foundation-pieced Christmas characters to adorn your own home. |

The need to
constantly bundle up children during blustery winters provided inspiration for "Warm
Woolen Mittens" (20 3/4" x 25 1/2") by Kathy DeVries of Grand
Rapids, Michigan. Use favorite buttons and folksy blanket stitching to embellish your own
handsome little mitten quilt. |
Fusible appliqué and buttonhole
stitches enable you to make "Snowmen" (20" square) almost
as fast as you can throw a snowball. Barbara Mervine of Spofford, New Hampshire, made hers
as personable as Frosty. |

| Christmas trees form a perfect frame
for traditional Bear's Paw blocks in "Bear's Paws in the Forest" (13
5/8" square) by Els Feteris-Stam of Zwartewaal of the Netherlands. The talented
quilter created this design for a Mini-Quilt-of-the-Month class she teaches. You won't
have to travel to the Netherlands to make this little quilt to brighten up your holidays. |
Marjorie Gaul of Fairport, New York,
discovered the perfect technique (and excuse!) to make snowmen. Foundation piecing! "Snowman
Snapshots" (13 1/2" x 10 1/2") captures the "perfect
moment" when these smiling faces realize they will never melt. |

| Camilla Roper of Ann Arbor,
Michigan, made "Santa's Reindeer" (20" x 23") using
fusible appliqué. While Camilla's team of reindeer have fused eyes and noses, she
suggests using buttons instead, if you'd like to add a little dimension to your quilt.
Don't forget to use a red button for one of the noses! |
Bonnie Jean Rosenbaum's "Sagebud"
mini (20 1/2" square) is all ready for Christmas. The combination of
appliqué and piecing gives this lovely quilt perfect balance. The Albuquerque, New
Mexico, quilter drafted a pattern for her quilt after seeing a photo of Glendora Hutson's beautiful 42"
sagebud quilt many years ago. |

 |
| Melinda Noonan of Cedar Park, Texas,
loves Christmas quilts and working in miniature, so she combined the two. "Pineapple
Christmas" (21 1/2" square) would be the perfect quilt to decorate your
home for the holiday season. |
Depending on which way you show this
quilt, these Flying Geese can be heading in any direction! Kathleen Rindal Brooks of River Forest,
Illinois, adds a touch of whimsy to just about everything she does. Make each of your
geese in "A Christmas Goose" (9 1/2" x 10") unique by
stitching them in varied prints. |
 |
 |
| Camie Roper of Ann Arbor, Michigan,
picked the perfect colors to make "Hang Your Stocking by the Chimney with
Care" (20" x 21"). Use sashing in brick reds and blocks with dark
backgrounds to give your quilt the feeling that you are looking up the chimney, awaiting
the arrival of Santa himself. |
Sandy Wakeman of Baldwin City,
Kansas, adorned each house in cheerful prints, giving them distinct personalities. "Holiday
Houses" (15 1/4" x 19 1/4") is a perfect way to use up some of
those holiday fabrics that have been stashed away. |
