The QuiltTownUSA Gallery
offers you a look at quilts from some of the premiere quilters in the USA.
It is a place where you can come whenever you are looking for some
inspiration. You will find beautiful and creative quilts always on display. Visit us again
and again; the exhibits are constantly changing. Stay as long as you like. Our doors never
close.
Currently on display are the quilts of Kathleen Rindal Brooks. Kathleen
has had a needle in her hand since she was four years old - and for the last nineteen of
those years it's been a quilting needle. Since she always has a piece of miniature
patchwork in her pocket, Kathy has abundant opportunity to share her love and knowledge of
quilting wherever she goes. Surrounded by her quilts and needlework, she lives happily in
River Forest, Illinois, with her husband Rich and their children Travis, Jordan and
Hayley. She's also accompanied by Wilbur the pig, and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle the hedgehog and a
menagerie of other delightful pets. To learn more about Kathleen and to view more of
her quilts, visit her at The Meeting Place.

Your
"dusty" country scraps will find a home in "Hole
in the Barn Door" (8" x 10"). Add a check border to complete the
down-home look.
|
Achieve a
bright look like I did in "Country Living" (18 3/4"
square). Notice how the light sashing placed between the scrappy blocks creates the
illusion of depth. A simple curved quilting design softens the angles. |

| Piece by piece, I pulled the
fabrics for "Granny Wore Star Pajamas" (9 1/2" x 11
3/4") from my great-grandmother's scrap bag. One of the vintage prints is from an old
pair of star print pj's! |
"Pineapple Log Cabin
Color Study" (11" square) gives you a great excuse to collect more
fabric. Each block repeats the same color scheme with different fabrics. |
 |
 |
| "Charmeuse"
(12" x 13 1/2") takes its name from the French word meaning "Little
Charmer." This charm quilt contains 336 different prints. Over a dozen conversation
prints within the patchwork create a visual hide and seek. |
The fabrics used in "A
Chicken in Every Pot" (14 1/2" x 21 1/2") are like colorful
personalities! Many different scraps add variety while the repeated use of conversation
prints creates continuity. |

| After my sister moved to South Carolina, "Whistling
Dixie" (20 1/2" square) gave me a way to celebrate the shared fabric of
our lives. This South Carolina Star is pieced completely with vintage fabrics circa
1840-1900, including a brown flag centennial print and an 1840s yellow calico. |
I created "Button Up"
(15" square) to showcase my collection of antique calico buttons. With or without
buttons, it's fun to piece and delightful to own! |
| Patterns for all quilts displayed are available in Kathleen's
book Little
Bits of Whimsy: A Pattern Book. (We're sorry but
this book is out of print. Please check with your local quilt shop or
library for a copy.) |
