Double "T" Block

Previous Block of the Month: Double "T" Block

Recreate the look of another era!

Double "T" is a block pattern typical of the 1880s - 1900. Our block features reproduction prints of that period made by MMFabrics.

BLOCK SIZE: 12"

MATERIALS

  • 12" square of light
  • 6" x 12" piece of medium
  • 6" x 12" piece of dark

CUTTING

  • Cut 4: A, light
  • Cut 16: B, dark
  • Cut 4: C, light
  • Cut 1: D, light
  • Cut 4: E, medium

PIECING

Double "T" Block, pattern 1

As you sew, press the seam allowances toward the darker fabric where possible.
  • Sew B's to 2 adjacent sides of A. Repeat for all A's.
  • Sew B's to the short sides of C. Repeat for all C's.
  • Complete the corner units by joining the pieced units as shown.

Double "T" Block, pattern 2

  • Make the center unit by sewing a completed corner unit to 2 opposite sides of D.
  • Sew E's to 2 sides of each of the remaining 2 corner units.
  • Complete the block by sewing the 2 side units to the center unit.
