A perfect block for your upcoming family reunion!

Friends of Marion Wallien used the Friendship Pinwheels block (10" square) in a special quilt they made for her. The red triangles form a strong secondary design of pinwheels, while the white squares provide ample space for handwritten sentiments, drawings or whatever you like.

BLOCK SIZE: 10" square

MATERIALS Yardage is estimated for 44" fabric.

Muslin scrap at least 5 1/2" square
Assorted red print scraps
Assorted light print scraps
Assorted navy print scraps

CUTTING Pattern pieces are full size and include a 1/4" seam allowance, as do all dimensions given.

Cut 1: 5 1/2" square, muslin
Cut 4: A, red print; or cut one 6 1/4" square, then cut each in quarters diagonally to yield 4 triangles.
Cut 4: A, light print; or cut one 6 1/4" square, then cut each in quarters diagonally to yield 4 triangles.
Cut 4: A, navy print; or cut one 6 1/4" square, then cut each in quarters diagonally to yield 4 triangles.

DIRECTIONS

	Stitch 2 navy print A's to opposite sides of the 5 1/2" muslin square. Stitch 2 navy print A's to the remaining sides of the square, as shown, to make a pieced square.
	Stitch a red print triangle and a light print triangle together, as shown. Make 4.
	Stitch 2 triangle units to opposite sides of the pieced square. Stitch 2 triangle units to the remaining sides of the pieced square to complete the block.
