Hazy Daisy
Stitch up a bit of springtime!
Try using scraps of reproduction prints in "Hazy Daisy" (10"
square). This fresh-as-spring block, made by co-editor Debra Feece, is from a pattern
designed by Nancy Cabot in the 1930s.
BLOCK SIZE: 10" square
MATERIALS
- 8 prints each at least 2 1/4" square (The block shown has 2 pinks, 2 yellows, 2
blues and 2 lavenders.)
- Piece of green at least 7 1/2" square
- Piece of muslin at least 6 1/4" x 12 1/2"
CUTTING
Dimensions include a 1/4" seam allowance.
- Cut 1: 2 1/4" square from each print
- Cut 4: 3 3/4" squares, green, then cut them in quarters diagonally to yield 16
triangles
- Cut 2: 6 1/4" squares, muslin, then cut them in quarters diagonally to yield 8
triangles
DIRECTIONS

- Sew a 2 1/4" print square to a short side of a green triangle. Chain sew each
remaining 2 1/4" print square to a green triangle, as shown. Cut them apart and press
the seam allowances toward the green triangles.

- Sew a pieced unit to a green triangle. Chain sew each remaining pieced unit to a green
triangle, as shown. Cut them apart and press the seam allowances toward the green
triangles.

- Sew a pieced triangle to a muslin triangle. Chain sew each of the pieced triangles to a
muslin triangle, as shown. Cut them apart and press the seam allowance toward the pieced
triangle.

- Lay out the units in the block arrangement, as shown. You may choose to arrange the
colors randomly or to match them in each square.

- Sew the units into squares, as shown.
- Join the squares to complete the block.
