Let's Fly a Kite

Previous Block of the Month:    Let's Fly a Kite!

A colorful kite to sail in the wind on a blustery spring day. Easy piecing makes it a breeze!

Let's Fly a Kite, ©1992 by Merry May of Tuckahoe, New Jersey. Merry designed this as a block-of-the-month for the South Shore Stitchers. For a breezy 34" x 48" wallhanging like Merry's, just make six blocks; add two-inch sashing and a four-inch border!

BLOCK SIZE: 12" square

MATERIALS                                                                                               Yardage is estimated for 44" fabric.

  • Colorful scraps for kite and tail
  • 1/4 yard fabric for sky (sufficient for 2 blocks)

CUTTING                                                                                                      Pattern pieces are full size and include a 1/4" seam allowance, as do all dimensions given.

  • Cut 1: A, colored scrap
  • Cut 1: B, colored scrap
  • Cut 1: C and CR, sky fabric
  • Cut 3: 2 1/2" squares, colored scraps
